As the Licensed Midwife of Shiloh Midwifery, it is my protocol to keep babies cords intact! Unless there is an emergency, I keep my hands off that cord and let the placenta deliver before we even think about cutting it. Of course I will follow the desires of my families and what they desire for their babies cords.

There is so much information out there about the benefits of delayed cord clamping and I’m seeing article upon article out there. This article posted below is from the Economist! I love that this study from Sweden made an issue of the Economist! I look forward to the day when the practice of immediately cutting the umbilical cord will be outdated and never done…for the health of babies everywhere.
